Post 3+ Months Ago

I am working with multiple nested movie clips and I want/need to use buttons on one MC to control the action of the other MCs.

Here's what I've done so far:

1. I've created a navigation menu with 6 buttons (each button has a MC nested behind it).
2. I've created another MC that moves the sides and center out of the way to reveal hidden content--I need the buttons to activate this MC.

The code for the MC in number 2 is pretty simple:

onClipEvent (enterFrame) {

If i use this code the MC plays as soon as I run the file (obviously not what I want). But when I remove the code the button doesn't work.

The code on the Critiques button is as follows:

The frame I call is the 2nd frame--1st frame has stop();

I've uploaded the file's here for all you experts to see:
http://www.sacritic.com/test1.htm - With code in MC
http://www.sacritic.com/test2.htm - No code, No workie, lol

Is there a way I can combine the MC code with the button code?
Or is there a better way to do this?

I still have a lot of work to do but I need to get past this first.

I'm sure this is simple, any suggestions?

Well, I got this working by ditching the code on the MC and putting the following code on the

Code: [ Select ]
  1. on(release)
  2. {
  3.     _root.mc_name.gotoAndPlay("frame#");
  4. }

Basically, I just had to spell out the exact location and frame # of the MC.
That's what happens when you work on a program for 12 hours straight, you make silly mistakes.

I have encountered a new (related) problem though that I have posted in a new thread here:
