i found out with the flash help file that the _currentframe can be used for the current frame of a movie clip. how would i, in action script, get the current frame of the movie? (and store it in a variable as a number or string)

any help would, well, help!
thanks

myVariable = targetScope._currentframe;

That will store the frame number in the variable called "myVariable".

targetScope is the timeline you are targetting to get the _currentframe value. It can be a movieclip symbols instance name, or it could be "this", "_root", or "_parent" (timeline scopes).

hello I'm sickof it...please help,
I tried to make that fadein fadeout effect when you hit the button, I mean I wanted to keep current moveiclip on the stage then the mask would come and another movieclip would be loaded while the mask is "going" away...
The problem is that I can't add any action with _currentframe because it just doesn't even trace the message
any suggestions? or different solution?
here's the code of the button

contact_bt.onRelease = function() {
holder_mc.attachMovie("masking_mc", "masking_mc", 2);
if (holder_mc.masking_mc._currentframe == 10) {
trace ("O");
}
}

thanks a lot!

pisticek you really should have posted to a new topic.

I wouldn't simply do this in a button. Build a function for each of the things you would like to occur. Draw yourself a little flow showing the sequence of events and what happen.

It sounds like this is what your are trying to do. "(events)" "-actions"

(click contact_bt)
-CoverGraphic_gr comes in over old movie.

(CoverGraphic_gr hits a wait position)
-OldMovie_mc is removed
-NewMovie_mc loads

(NewMovie_mc has completed loading)
-CoverGraphic_gr slides away to reveal NewMovie_mc
