I am trying to do the following effect:
I have a manipulated pic in photoshop that look like a drawing( only lines) does someone have any idea of how to do the drawing effect. the effct start with empty page and then start drawing all the lines untill you get a complete pic. I was thinking of using masking but look very complex.

Thanks

In my opinion masking is the way to go. It's not really THAT hard, just time consuming.

If you look at THIS PAGE, I did the animation of the dancing couple being drawn onto the screen, there are 10 lines total, and approximately 14 masks being used.

EDIT - I cropped each line apart from the rest in Photoshop, and saved each line as an individual .png file and then imported it into flash. Once in Flash I put each line onto its own layer and re-assembled the design with all the lines. I then added a mask layer to every line layer, two or three masks in some cases depending on what type of curves the line has. After all that comes the animation process and smoothing out of the sequence of appearance!

yes i'd say masking would be the best way to do that effect /..

if you would to use AS for something like that ,
it would be much more complex than masking...
:)
