Hey.

I am having a little trouble with emailing a form with actionscript. I am aiming for something similar to the form used on shockwave chess, except I just want to send the information from three dynamic text boxes.

the code works, but now how i want it to. instead of emailing the form, it opens up my mail client (outlook), and the values are transferred over. is there a way to actually email the message, and not open up the client? i would really appreciate this. here is my code.

the text boxes are named: subject, greeting, and message.
the button is named send.

here is the code for send:

Code: [ Select ]
on (press) {
    getURL(mailto add "?subject=" add subject add "&body=" add greeting add newline add body);
    gotoandstop(2);
}
on (keyPress "<Enter>") {
    getURL(mailto add "?subject=" add subject add "&body=" add greeting add newline add body);
    gotoandstop(2);
}
  1. on (press) {
  2.     getURL(mailto add "?subject=" add subject add "&body=" add greeting add newline add body);
  3.     gotoandstop(2);
  4. }
  5. on (keyPress "<Enter>") {
  6.     getURL(mailto add "?subject=" add subject add "&body=" add greeting add newline add body);
  7.     gotoandstop(2);
  8. }

the frame action code:

Code: [ Select ]
stop();
name = "Webmaster";
email = "emailaddress@hotmail.com";
mailto = "mailto:" add name add "<" add email add ">";
  1. stop();
  2. name = "Webmaster";
  3. email = "emailaddress@hotmail.com";
  4. mailto = "mailto:" add name add "<" add email add ">";

thanks for any suggestions or help.

Moved this over to Flash/Actionscript :wink:

I'm pretty sure your going to have to send the form to a serer-side page to do the mailing... I could be wrong.

yes you do, using either php or perl or somethign else. Personally, if
you can, I would recommend using php. Here's a great tutorial on
how to do what you need using php:
