Hi, just a quick question about Flash and maybe wider applications in the education suite.

The T&C's for the education version of Studio 8 says that the applications can't be used in a commercial environment. If some Flash files had been created using an educational version and published to a businesses site, would it be possible to identify these files?

If you need to use it on a commercial site, then you need to buy the commercial version.

Hi

Thanks, I'm aware of that, and it's not a scenario I'm in or anything, just a bit of 'what if...' questioning for the experts so that I at least have an idea of what to say should the question come up.

Please don't misunderstand that I'm suggesting anything dodgy, just curious and would like to be informed :)

Yes it's possible to tell the difference between files produced with different versions.
That's all they need to know.

ok, I'm sorry if it upsets people and I wasn't aware what I was asking was against forum rules but sometimes you need to ask a little bit more.

Thanks for all the helpful responses

There's no reason to know "how" it's done, if everyone knew "how" it's done, that would defeat the purpose of it being possible in the first place.
Why yes, yes I am.

I think I'd disagree with that one, there's plenty of reason to know how things are done and why shouldn't I or tohers know how things are done. I was curious about something so I thought I would ask.

Think what you want, but speaking from experience, it's best not to let people know how you're going to protect yourself if you want it to be in any way effective.

This is a forum to ask questions related to flash design and actionscript programming, not how is coded the .swf file. If you want, you can use some php libraries (i.e.: Ming) to code your own .swf files, without using the Flash environment, though it will be a whole lot of work and it's much more limited than flash.
