flash fade in / fade out images from folder

hi there

can someone tell me how i go about getting images into flash (fade in fade out) from an external folder? i understand that i require a container in flash for the images to be loaded into, i know that i need xml in some way but i dont know how to formulate it. any ideas on tutorials that do it or code to start me off.
