Post 3+ Months Ago

I want to make a flash animation. And I searched for some examples and saw that there are loading screens. I don't know how to make a loading screen can you help me guys?

I know only the basics about flash and i'm using Macromedia FlashMX

First I want to ask some questions:

1) What is the purpose of the Loading Screen?
2) Why should I make a Loading Screen?
3) Is it a requirement?
4) How can you make one?

Those are some of my questions.

Please help me Thanks :D

1) What is the purpose of the Loading Screen?

To give the user some information and keep her/his interest while the flash .swf loads. Anything over several K will take a moment to load, during which, the user may lose interest or think it's not loading right and move on.

2) Why should I make a Loading Screen?

Above. Also, it's just really good to keep communication up with the user, let 'em know you haven't forgotten about 'em.

3) Is it a requirement?

Definitely not a requirement, but if you have a large .swf (especially if it's over 50k), you really ought to or you're going to lose user interest and it'll look bad.

4) How can you make one?

this is a great tutorial:
