Try not to use prototype in the newer versions of Flash if you can help it.

The ability to set public & private methods/variables within classes for AS2 beats the hell out of the ASSetPropFlags method needed to achieve the same effect for AS1.

AS1 to AS2 is a little like going from Javascript to Java, if that makes any sense to you.
Strong with this one, the sudo is.

I hear ya with classes , i know what a public and private methods are ...
But i always seem to download examples with prototypes and its always set to AS 1 in publish setting so i though i missed something out of the OLD school ...

hmmm scary aint it mate ?

and now with the release of AS 3 , we already got the preview , how much does it differ from AS 2 ?

When i first saw one of the AS 3 tuts , it sounded more like java , always defining class name , importing Packages etc ...

Java :
Import packages like IO

define public static void etc ...

Buffer readers ...

gosh , Have you got any comparison Table between AS2 & AS3 ?

Moving to the next generation of actionscript.

An intresting note from the previews details page.

Quote:
Java Virtual Machine—JVM 1.4.2 is installed on Windows when Flash Professional 9 ActionScript 3.0 Preview is installed. For Macintosh users, Flash Professional 9 ActionScript 3.0 Preview uses the OS-installed JVM (1.4.2 or higher).
