Hello,

I have 5 menu items, and i wnat to know how i can write a code to do the following:

when you click on a menu a bubble opens up, exposing the menus content, when you click on another menu I would like for the bubble that is opened to fade out or scale down while the new bubble that has been called to open fades in or scales in.
I believe it is an "If" statement, if one bubble is open close it and open the one that was called upon or cliked. How can i write the code, i have tried and get nothing, i am stuck with the project.

I appreciate your responses.

Thank you in advanced :?:

A menu like this is actually a lot more complex to code than it sounds in English.

Some things to look into in trying to create a menu like this...

1) Functions and Prototypes to highly reduce the amount of duplicated coding ( http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actions ... otypes.htm )
2) for...in loops to check clips in a timeline and their current states( http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actions ... /forin.htm )
3) Dynamic Event Handlers to be able to call enterFrames and whatnot from a frame instead of via an onClipEvent handler. ( http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actions ... cevent.htm )
4) hitTest to check if mouse is over movieclip symbol ( http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actions ... ittest.htm or ActionScript Reference in Flash)

A lot of work for something that sounds so simple :sigh:

I made a little FLA file for you:
http://imaginaire.ws/flash/test.fla (Flash MX)
http://imaginaire.ws/flash/test2.fla (Flash 5)
Download it and see if it helps.

Haha, I always overlook the common sense methods... explains why I make everything difficult on myself ;)

But then again, i'm so used to creating things like this dynamically via arrays and external XML files that I can't usually rely on methods like these.

Thanks for catching me there.
