im trying to get my movieclips to change value when a certain keyframe is reached. how would i go about this? i figured that the getProperty function would be my best bet - but even with all the tutes out there - i have yet to find one specific to my needs - they usually include some button or keyPress to activate - thats not what im looking for.

any helpwould be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance :)

just type your actionscript in those keyframes.
and to change values of the movieclips:
mc._x = 10;
mc._y = 10;
mc._alpha = 50; etc...
depends on what you want to change from the mc. Read the MovieClip class from flash help.

i've read all the material i could find on MovieClip classes and then some. I am no programmer :( - by any means - just a designer whose been wanting to learn this stuff - but just dont seem to have the head for it...mostly because i get confused as to which syntax to use for needs other than what i find in tutorials.

im trying to control multiple functions within a single movieclip (my_mc) that has several other movieclips (mySubmovie_mc) inside it - which i also need to control - all of which from the main timeline. this is what i currently have in place:

Code: [ Select ]
my_mc.onEnterFrame = function() {
    _alpha = 50;
    gotoAndPlay("turnLeft");
    mySubmovie_mc._alpha = 50;
    mySubmovie_mc._rotation = 90;
};
  1. my_mc.onEnterFrame = function() {
  2.     _alpha = 50;
  3.     gotoAndPlay("turnLeft");
  4.     mySubmovie_mc._alpha = 50;
  5.     mySubmovie_mc._rotation = 90;
  6. };

i wish to place this type of script within a keyframe on an actions layer. setting global properties is also an option i am wanting to learn more about - to possibly simplify this operation even more.

thanks!

hahahaha, i can say exactly the reversed thing about me. I'm no designer ... and i don't seem to have the head for it :D
About your code .... i know exactly what it's doing but i don't know why you need onEnterFrame for that, since you only set some static values.
