If you are using the code you posted then that could be the problem.

Code: [ Select ]
_root.yourMovie.yourButtonInstanceName.onRelease = function() {
_root.yourMovie.gotoAndPlay("Hi");
}
  1. _root.yourMovie.yourButtonInstanceName.onRelease = function() {
  2. _root.yourMovie.gotoAndPlay("Hi");
  3. }

Ahhh, I didnt read you right the first time. If its just a button code your after:

Code: [ Select ]
on(release) {
gotoAndPlay("hi");
}
  1. on(release) {
  2. gotoAndPlay("hi");
  3. }
