Say i have a MC called "MOVIECLIP" and i want it to, when i click a object, it to play that movie clip, help anyone? Ive tried everything! Asked loads, your my last hope!

Yes! it plays when i clikc a button, but i ever need it for the movie clip to be Invisble till its played, or that it goes and plays on fram 2 on the movie clip,

say the movie clip was called "Speech" and it has a intanse name of "Speech"

I think the problem here is that it's not very clear what is the instance name of the button and what is the instance name of the item you want to play.

Also, what level is the item you want to play on? Is it in the main, root timeline? Is it nested in another movieclip? Is the button a "button" or a "movieclip"?

If, as I'm assuming, your button (the door?) is a button, according to flash's terminology, and the "Speech" movieclip is on the root timeline:

on the button, put the action:
Code: [ Select ]
on(release){
_root.Speech.gotoAndPlay(2);}
  1. on(release){
  2. _root.Speech.gotoAndPlay(2);}


how's that work?

If it doesn't, please explain further:
Where is the "Speech" movieclip?
What kind of object is the door? The door is the button that's supposed to play the "Speech" movieclip, right?
Where is the "door" button? Is it a "button" or a "movieclip" and, if it's a movieclip, what is its instance name?

As detailed as you can make your explanation the better.

get this:

To make it clear

The door is a Button, with no intanse name, Movie clip is called speech, and its intancse name is that, when i click on the door, it goes to and plays movieclip "speech" (frame 2)

well, i have no idea what caused that error, but i would suggest you look at frame 49 on the layer named "speeh" for a line that has only "stop();" on it. you may need to click on the movieclip "Speech" and remove that line from the actionscript panel.

if you want for the "Speech" mc to be stopped when it first appears, you need to go into the mc (by double-clicking on it) and then click on the first frame and enter the stop(); into the actionscript panel.
then, click the second frame in that mc and hit f6 (for a new keyframe, so that, when it goes and plays frame 2, it doesn't run the "stop" call again and just stop).

but i'd have to see the .fla to know for sure...

u get this error because you try to place your actionscript on a symbol (button or movieclip). You must place it in a key frame, not on a symbol.

No because the code was;


on(release){
_root.Speech.gotoAndPlay(2);}

that cant be on a keyframe, well it could, but it wont work!
I posted this on 3 forums, my only hope now is that roar works it out witht he fla!

Im using this command:

}

but on the site it skips and sometimes doesnt load everything else go to thi site to see

you are loading them into levels ...
how about creating empty movieclips and use

emptyMovieclip.loadMovie("movieName.swf", 999);
