I am currently learning action script and was wondering, would learning this programming language help me when I move on to other languages such as PHP or ASP?

How similar is this language to other languages (suffice to say, minus the things that are flash only related)

Thanks !!

All programming languages, including ActionScript, use several logical precepts that are the same. The main differences are going to be syntax and the specifics of objects and methods.

I say yes! ActionScript is a nice, light, friendly language if you're new to programming. It's very much like javascript, so transitioning to that would be quite easy.

ASP and PHP are very easy to pick up. I should also note, that none of the languages mentioned are grouped with the big boys of programming languages(C, PERL, Java, etc.). Generally, ActionScript, Javascript, ASP, and PHP are all considered scripting languages, even though they are object oriented.
