I'm a bit of a novice at flash – and website development for that matter. I’m looking to place my demo videos on my web site. I want to do a progressive download because I don’t want to get into a flash server.
I would like a player that I can easily implement (being a novice) but I’m also willing to work at it if it would save me some money or be a better player.

Features I’m looking for (in order of importance)
* not too expensive (free would be nice – but I’m willing to pay – up to $100 USD if I have to)
* playlist – so users can select what video to watch (with thumbnails and/or short description area would be nice.
* nice interface look – customizable – lots of control options would be nice
* some sort of bandwidth adjustment functionality

Is there one out there for me?

Thanks,
\Dave

Why not just use the FLVPlayback component. It's built into Flash 8 Pro.

Oh - forgot to say --- I don't have Flash... I use Sorenson Squeeze (v4.2) to create my FLV files. It has some players but nothing with a playlist.

The other thing I would like to do is just be able to select a link A and have video A play, link B would play video B, etc. (the video playing on the same page if possible and A & B video playing at the same spot on the page)
I think this would just be passing variables - but like I said, I'm a lighweight technically - so I would need a fairly simple example - (Some of the tutorials I see allow you to do really fancy things, which I don't need).

But the playlist is still my 1st choice.

Thanks for any help!

Thanks I had been doing that without much success so far...

I did come across:
http://xmoov.com/ - but they want $299
and
http://components.earthscienceagency.co ... flvplayer/ - for $99

But I'm still looking for a very low or no cost option!

you could buy a prebuilt flash video player from flashDen, iStockPhoto, etc

I just did a quick google search and this is what came up. Besides that first one is only $8

http://www.flashden.net/item/flv-player-12/4215
http://www.flashden.net/item/iflv-player/4178
http://www.flashden.net/item/dynamic-flash-video-gallery/3716
http://www.flashden.net/files/8843/index.html

By the way I didn't build any of these and I'm not getting any money for pointing you this way

I hear you about you get what you pay for, but it depends on your needs too. I've got a top end video editor - because that is what I do all day... This flash on the web site thing is important, but not a big part of my every day work.

Thanks graphixboy for the link - just when I thought I had made a choice...

BTW, I tried the demo of the $99 option, and there were some limitations (like controlling auto play, looping, etc.) that would cost me another $90 to have configured - so now we are talking $200 - close to the $300 option that looks like it highly configurable and has some other interesting options too (although I have not looked very closely at it yet).

Now these $8 to $15 options could I make one of them fit? We’ll see…

Anyone else find something else out there, let me know – I can’t believe I didn’t find the one that graphixboy found I really looked a lot…

Thanks everyone.
