dear flashers,

can duplicated mc (with all it's dups) be masked?

I'm trying to load swf into a flash index page, and all the unwanted duplications that go beyond the stage limits of the swf appear undesirably.

:P Thanks,

One step further.....

now I'm using setMask method and put my duplicated MC (cardMsk) into another MC (mask) so - cardMsk.setMask(mask). .
..Life is not easy... now it seems like it's being masked but all the dups become invisible, like black shadows or something. Why?

(believe me I'm trying a lot before posting here)

Thanks,

I guess I'll just keep replying to myself....

now I realize that my duplicated MCs were "black shadows" because the rectangle I masked in wasn't filled. So now when I mask my duplicated MC, all the dups take on the color of the rectangle. why?

so please please tell me how can I possibly mask a duplicated MC into a simple rectangle shape, so the rectangle is only a window to these dups, w/o changing their color or shape or movement, or anything.

***so frustrated

1 mask per clip.

So... duplicate your clips within a movieclip symbol instead of on the main timeline. This way you can mask the movieclip symbol that contains all your duplicated clips in one bundle.
