****New version inserted as .jpg below, the link in this post is the old version****

Hey guys, this is a new GUI I am working on for Gary Garritan and his virtual instrument: the Garritan Personal Orchestra.

http://www.alanjoseph.com/GPOskin01.htm

ATNO/TW suggest I post it here, he said you guys are very helpful with this kind of thing...

Any suggestions/tips to make this look better/cleaner/easier on the eyes, would be appritiated. Thanks in advance.

Have you played around with different color schemes? It doesn't quite feel good to me. I'd say that's the first thing that occurs to me.

On the whole, I'd say your execution of creating individual components is very good. You seem to lack an over-all cohesion in your design, however.

If it were my project, I'd want to move the top two logos off of the interface itself. The script font on "Personal Orchestra" is something I'd take a good look at too. Lastly, on the keyboard, I'd prefer black and white, or something really stylized. This just seems half way between here and there, if you know what I mean.

Looks like a neeeeet project! I hope you find any of this useful.

Actually that's why I was posting, to see what different schemes people would think were interesting for this. On another forum, an audio forum where this product is actually being used, they asked for a more dramatic, almost 'goth' skin, so I'm working on that one now.

I also got suggestions to make it look like a retro synth, with the huge analog knobs and funky colors and textures (like the MOOG)... that one's probably next after the 'goth' one.

Thanks.

btw Alan: I put "Widow of War" in my iTunes playlist. I didn't think you'd mind. I'm only using it for personal listening pleasure. I thought I'd just verify that you're ok with that. (?)

Definetly!

I'm glad you enjoy it. I am currently working on an operetta using the above software that I'm designing the GUI for.

I'm very happy you like the new design better (so does Garritan, the company!)

Thanks again,
AL
