Producing a drag and drop interactive quiz using dragable movie clips onto transparent buttons.
I have a static movie clip which is designed on staves on a musical score. There is then a dragable movie clip with a transparent button within it with just a hit area. The code should be right according to the tutorial i have been following...

http://www.video-animation.com/flash_07.shtml

however, there seems to be a synatc error in my actionscript. it get errors along the lines of

**error** symbol = bar3dragable_mc, layer = button, frame = 1: line 1:
mouse events are permitted only for button instances
on (press)

I have searched for other similar errors on other forums and most errors seem to occur because of using scenes or applying the actionscript incorrectly. In this case, i aren't using scenes and the actionscript seems to be right.

Given the error, i assume the on (press) (and on (release)) are whats causing the problems. what other alternatives couls i use?

Any help would be excellent.

This error shows that you have placed on(press) function on frame instead of putting that code on the object.
You have placed that code on frame1 of the bar3dragable_mc.

Remove that code from frame and place it on the movieclip
