Hello,

Hope to get some info here. I'm working on a Flash project and I need to have a navigation animate when the user rolls onto it (and then animate to original state when roll off).

For example: A scroll (graphic) that is fully rolled up. When the user rolls onto it. The scroll movie plays (as it rolls out and presents the buttons). When the user rolls off, the scroll movie rolls back to original state.

Can any AS wizards help a brother out here?!? I'm pulling out my hair trying to figure this out. :cry: If anyone can even point me in the direction of something that already exsists (a link or whatever) then I can learn off of that.

Thanks in advance. :thumbsup:

I'm guessing that you are using a BUTTON symbol for this. My suggestion would be to try a MOVIE CLIP symbol.

Then, using the MovieClip class and methods, you can control the actions for various events.

Code: [ Select ]
myButton.onRollOver = function(){
   scrollClip. gotoAndPlay(1);
}
myButton.onRollOut = function(){
   scrollClip. gotoAndPlay(10);
}
  1. myButton.onRollOver = function(){
  2.    scrollClip. gotoAndPlay(1);
  3. }
  4. myButton.onRollOut = function(){
  5.    scrollClip. gotoAndPlay(10);
  6. }

Thanks DM. I'm afraid I may be in a little over my head. Too much a newbie. I made a movie and have the rollon and rolloff animation within the movie (using stop actions after each) I labeled the first frames of each segment 'mouseover' and 'mouseout'.

I tried using this on the AS of the MC on the stage:

Code: [ Select ]
[/onClipEvent (load) {
  on (rollOver) {
    this.start(0, 2);
    this.gotoAndPlay("mouseover");
  }
  on (rollOut) {
    this.gotoAndPlay("mouseout");
  }
}
  1. [/onClipEvent (load) {
  2.   on (rollOver) {
  3.     this.start(0, 2);
  4.     this.gotoAndPlay("mouseover");
  5.   }
  6.   on (rollOut) {
  7.     this.gotoAndPlay("mouseout");
  8.   }
  9. }

My problem is that I don't know the concept of what makes an area on the stage (that's a movie) function as a button. Does this make sense? Sorry if it doesn't.

BTW: I'm working with MX.

Is there anything out there that I can see in action and dive into? :?:
