I have created a MovieClip (About) in Main Scene... how can i command the button that i have used within that MovieClip (About) to "go to and play frame 1 of the SCENE 2"

you give the button a name (btnName),and put the above code on the frame where your MC(About) located

as i am not able to get this working! i tried to do as per your suggestion but it seems not working!

Secondly, i have another problem that i need help for..:

I have made a Flash movie (Main.SWF), and at certain frame of the main movie i add action script (Stop) and another to LOADMOVIE (XYZ.SWF)

Now, what i want to achive is, when this XYZ movie ends (at the last frame of the xyz.swf) i should be able to (1) Unload the XYZ movie (which is simple) and

(2) to be able to use (go to and play certain frame or frame label) of the Main.SWF

Is this possible? to some how control timelines from the external swf when loaded?

this is for your first topic.....


As for the second one....
Load the movie (XYZ.SWF) in a mc. And so you will never leave the main swf..and you will have total control on the entire swf. But you have to know the basics....SO: when you call a movie(btn or any other symbol) that's in an upper timeline (you are inside about_mc and the symbol you want to control is on the main timeline) you have to call it with the _root.your_mc. _root is telling flash that your object is on the main timeline.
When youre symbol is on a timeline but it's only one level upper then you call it with _parent.your_mc....if it is 2 levels up then you call it _parent._parent.your_mc
When youre symbol is inside the mc that you are into then you call it with his name your_mc.gotoAndStop(2)
and so on..........
I'm not sure you've understood me but you might wanna take a look at the help function from flash ;) (search for _root or _parent)

Thanks really! the first case is solved!
About the second one, i got your concept but this is what i am trying to do:

in my MAIN movie (ABC.swf) i reach a frame where i have added "STOP" action and at the same frame i have an action for "LoadMovie" on higher level... now this New Movie (xyz.swf) is actually consisting embedded video... so what i want is that when the video ends (at the last frame) somehow i could unload the xyz.swf and start the main abc.swf from the next frame onwards... i hope i did not get you confused...

Let me know what should be the actuall codes and where to use them...

Load the xyz.swf in a mc.(call it hoder_mc)
Code: [ Select ]
_root.loadMovie("xyz.swf",holder_mc);
-> this will load the xyz.swf in your main timeline of the main movie(ABC.swf)

now open xyz.fla and place this on the last keyframe
Code: [ Select ]
onEnterFrame = function(){unloadMovie(this);
->this will unload the xyz.swf after it finishes playing

now I (you) have to figure out a method to check if the xyz.swf is unloaded and if thats true then go to the next frame on abc.swf
