when writing a script and calling functions involving alpha values and alpha rates for images is there any easy way to reverse the process?

lets say in the main body i have a bomb blowing up a rock. i call a function for the rock to fade out. But once the rock fades away Im left with an invisible rock that still explodes :oops:

eg. function disappear ();
element ("rock").alpha = 100;
element ("rock").alpha_rate = - 10;

ok. my problem is that once its gone, i want it to come back, which is presenting problems for me. I cant simply show the image, as technically its already visible. and if image.visible or visible == false doesnt work either, because it IS visible it seems, regardless of alpha. Im at a loss here.

Is there anyone who can help? Thanks.

How about making another movie clip with the animation in reverse? then you could load that...? Are you trying to make the same movie clip play backwards?

Why don't you just set the alpha back to 100???

I would reposition the object 'rock' to a new starting location, or at least off the scene. Then change the alpha to 100 and move back into your animation.
