please help..need to make a gif into a menu

i have a gif image and i want to make a menu over it..i tried using css styles in html and put a layer over it..but its only compatible with ie 6..how can i go about doing this..i have any and all grafics/web programs ..thanks in advance :)

What does this have to do with Flash? :)

Anyway, can you place the image as a CSS-coded background image for the table (or cell, for that matter) where you want to build the menu...?

Or is it that you are planning to do the menu in Flash? Explain please...

was wondering if flash was better for what i want to do..and if its possible to make it compatible for every browser?

Flash is definitely the cross-platform option... But I would rather use Fireworks and plain old HTML for what you need with your IPOD... which is an awesome idea for a navigation bar...
