I have a main.swf page that has a menu on top that opens different swf files into an empty movieclip, named "placeholder"

here is the code:
on (release) {
placeholder.loadMovie("navyuniforms/navyuniforms_FINAL.swf");
}

it loads the swf file fine into the right place, but the functionality of navyuniforms_FINAL.swf gets completely screwed. in the swf i'm trying to open i have a sliding menu of sorts where you click the box on the right and it slides the superwide image to the right until it is centered in the screen. this is all using actionscript.

now it does nothing since it is nested inside the original main.swf

I think somehow when it loads the swf file it doesn't load all the variables, or something. it's like a non-functioning screen shot.

i guess in simple terms, I need to be able to do something similar to creating a frameset in flash, where i can load a swf file inside it, and have that file work properly like I know it would if I was using HTML frameset and they had their own corresponding html files.

if you have _root reference in navyuniforms_FINAL.swf then that's the problem. Either use lockroot in the first frame of that swf, or use only relative paths.

Thanks. I tried that but to no avail. I'll post the swf and flash files here, maybe it will help explain the problem better.

this is the menu URL (the loaded movie doesnt function correctly)

this is the loaded movie file on its own (it works here- the thumbs are supposed to change the main photo)

Here are the .fla files
