a popular question here at ozzu, and any other webmasters board out
there. give search a try, it will provide you with good results.

in the meantime, try http://www.flashkit.com for starters

I go to flash kit a lot, but, and i may be really dumb here, but when i go to the sfx section they say that theres 3785 "switch" sounds but theres only abut 4 pages with a few sounds on each, i thought, OK i need to register, but still only a few sounds, whats the deal???

ask them, i'm not sure. But I do know that they categorize all their sounds pretty tightly, so keep looking. After all, you're asking for free. ;)

Sounds are hard to come by. But...
If you have a good ear and $200.00 do this:
Try and find "Protools Free", it's a free promotional program from Digidesign. They don't offer it for dowmload any more but you can get it from Kazaa or Limewire, don't worry it's freeware. It's really a good program for recording.
Then all you need is a minidisc recorder and a mic. The recorders are cheap, the mic you can get from Radio shack for $35. Thats how I get my little sound affects. Feel free to check out

This is my portfolio site/songs. Although you might want sound effects, these songs are free to download. Might be an inspiration.

Just a note, be careful using soundogs. about a year and half ago they revamped their copyright/liscense agreement. those downloadabe sample sounds cannot be used for commerical use, i ran into a problem with this and ended up redoing 3 months work. you can buy packages and cd's from them i believe.
and sometimes on certain samples the sound quality is no good. i had downloaded some sounds there once that somehow ended up being
4-bit (??) and i could not change the bitrate even with a bitrate converter. i don't know if this would be an area or concern for anyone.

cheers

just remembered this site

It's probably because it's Friday and no one has gotten to it yet, or because you didn't try the OZZU search function. I've merged your topic with one of the original questions identical to yours. If you read the rest of this thread you'll get some answers.
