How did he get the main swf to center and not resize (when resizing browser/diff resolution), while having the background swf resize, and to have that top toolbar also stay in place (top left)and not resize when the browser is resized. Also the whole thing is in 1 swf. How is this achieved?

About your question, the Flash movie is set to 100% width & height, ALL positioning & scaling is handled within the Flash movie.
There is more than one SWF, they're being loaded at runtime.

Look at your Actionscript manual, at the "Stage" object & the Stage.onResize event.
