Trying to pause a Movie, movie clips keep playing.

I am some what new at actionscript, but know a little about 2.0 so I am sticking with it on the project I am working on.

I have made a scene that has a slide show inside a digital picture frame for a photographers portfolio intro webpage. I have next, back, pause and play buttons on the picture frame, everything works, however whenever you click the pause button the scene pauses but the movie clip playing keeps playing so whichever picture you pause it on it keeps fading in and out. How can I fix this or should I take the movie clips out and make the tweens actually in the scene.

can you post your code?

actually it was very simple code. On the pause button I just had
on(release) {
stop()
}

but I think I fixed it. instead of the fading pictures being individual movie clips, I just put them directly in the scene.
