tween using actionscripts

is it possible to slide an object like a motion tween or make an object fade in and out using only action scripts.
I know I can use set property and get the object wherever but i would prefer a smooth transition.

Search for fadeTo or easing using Ozzus' search.

You'll find a ton of examples for what you're looking to do.
