What is the main advantage of using action script 2 over action script 3.

well technically more people people have access to a player for swfs built with AS1 and AS2 since both the Flash 7 and Flash 8 players will run AS2 but not AS3. The Flash 9 player is required for running AS3 Flash/Flex

The basic problem is that most common computer users don't upgrade things like their flash player unless something asks them to.
