well the first question I would ask is what do you want to learn it for, do you want to learn everything that actionscript has to teach, or do you want to learn physics in actionscript along with game devolpment, or website creation which would further go into incorporating other styles of scripting such as php, java, css, html, etc...

me personally right now I'm a physics kind of person, I take what I know and incorporate in to flash, then many times I take thenm, often altering it into something that is a little less demanding for the users computer, but still believable and create games or other kinds of apps that involve math, however right now I'm trying to learn more about integrating other languages to create dynamic websites.

my final answer is books, books, books, whether you get them at a library or by them from barnes and nobles, its going to be your best option, tutorials just cant teach you what books can because its not in a straight fashion, tutorials are good for once you know the language to try and think of how to use it in other ways, so once you you know what you want to learn it for, then I can offer book ideas, and also how much do you know flash already?

As I understand actionscript is based on javascript but it is nots loose as javascript.
I would recommend taking a class learning flash.

there are many things you can use actionscript to. And here are some tutorials, hope they help. I think they`re a bit old, but then again, I think many of them work.
