hate to be critical, but they went with a J2EE architecture using the STRUTS framework. Wow, is this site ever so slow in responding to posts. Not only that, it's even slow to scroll the home page. Why ? It's all written DHTML/XHTML/CSS2. I've never witnessed this before.
Any comments ?

wooooooooo

I just put on a morphine patch, and scrolling down that page is freaky

The top is still there, the bottom is still there, and it does a little dance to load itself

1500 kbps DSL running at max speed. All of the floating objects are showing their inertia in my IE 6 browser.
Did you try any of the forms ?
I'm just wondering if Java J2EE and JSP especially has fallen out of favor when compared to PHP, especially the latest release of it.

I'm seeing the jitters when I scroll the page, but I doubt that's J2EE. since it's server side. It's possibly the embedded video and flash. There's a lot of rich media on that page.
I haven't tried any of the forms, but it's possible thay're slow because of J2EE.

A weird thing is, I took of the CSS and an imae filled my screen.
I viewed the image, and its tiny, I cant see any abnormal Size Attributes, and with CSS its normal size.

And when I say about the scroll thing, I was at the top, and I quickly scrolled to the bottom and up again

Worked just fine for me. Took less than two seconds for each page to completely load (even with the stock ticker running). Looks nearly identical on both IE and FF. Quite nice actually. I like it much better than the old version. Might isit it a bit more now.

Can you guys try doing some POSTs via the forms, like the customer service form ? I'm just trying to point-out that the architecture they employed, while quite elegant and complex, really has some performance problems. I'd be willing to say you could run 4 times the number of equivalent sites built in PHP as you could this J2EE site on the same server-cluster.
I've already posted to them once (a few posts failed the first day, this past Monday !) and told them to add some horsepower and they definitely did that.

I have been sending in complaints almost daily. This site was never fully tested and "Ready for prime time". Granted, there's about a million lines of code here, but STILL, some of the dumb things they've forgotten indicates just poor quality control / quality assurance. Plus, it remains slow, slow, slow...even outside of the STRUTS MVC controller.
