So the NFL season got underway last night, with the defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers triumphing over the Miami Dolphins.

I thought Miami looked decent for 3 quarters, but the Steelers defense came up huge in the fourth quarter. Somehow Troy Polamalu manages to get himself into positions to make those game-changing plays, what a player!

Of course they did it without big Ben Rothlisberger, but I'm not sure that would have changed the game much to be honest.

For me the season doesn't officially get under way until 1pm EST on Sunday at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro

It was messy and hard work, but my beloved Pats got off to a winning start yesterday

Sign of a good team (I hope) winning while not playing well and not having everyone available.

BigWeb's Seahawks's won a game purely decided on field goals!

Bigweb - how do you like the trade of Deion Branch for a first round pick :?:

The Bears had a pretty good season last year so hopefully they do the same. I expect them to make it to the playoffs. Not sure if they are ready for the Superbowl just yet.

Another Pats fan! :beerchug:

How about Maroney, eh? He looked very impressive to me.

I am happy about this. I think it was a good trade we made.

I am hapy the Patriots didn't give in to Branch. He wanted his pay-day and he got it. Yes he is a good player and will be missed on the pitch, but he is no T.O., Steve Smith, Chad Johnson, to name a few. They are league topping WRs who command league topping salaries for their position, Deion got greedy beyond his means and the pats told him to close the door on his way out.

There was an exception of course last year, when the Pats compromised with Richard Seymour, but he's arguably the best DE in the league.

It is good to see that the steelers still don't have to get into the endzone to score. They are continuing last years season.

Didn't see the game myself, doesn't seem like I missed much in the way of action...

It was all defense from what I heard. I didn't watch it either. i don't care for either team.

However, my Bears had another impressive victory, Grossman is looking good.
