In case any of you might be interested there is an annual award given out each year. 2009 Best Website Awards

Quote:
Each year the Web Marketing Association names the Best web sites in 96 industry categories as part of the annual WebAward Competition.

Here is your chance to stand out from your competitors and win the recognition you deserve while receiving valuable independent feedback on your development efforts.

Best websites are selected by judges who review the entered websites using the seven criteria below:
*Design
*Ease of use
*Copywriting
*Interactivity
*Use of technology
*Innovation
*Content

I honestly don't know much about that organization, however it looks on the up and up so thought I'd point it out for anyone else that didn't know about it.

I would totally agree that Bigweb should enter OZZU. No one has done anything to a phpbb board like he has. And there is a category for online community.

agreed :) Some publicity couldn't hurt either way, right?
I'd love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

I agree this is the most customized and detailed phpbb board I've ever encountered.

You've got plenty money Brian, think about the traffic the site would get if you won an award or was even a runner-up? :D

Failing that, we could all chip in a few $'s.

Costs $195.00 USD to enter? Will the competition be fair?

Yeah that is what I was thinking. Many of the categories probably have 1 or 0 entries.

It is not really about the money SB. It is more about ROI. Currently I have been paying for further advertising of ozzu through Google Adwords and Yahoo Marketing. I would rather put the money some place that I think would return better results. I checked estimated traffic stats on that website and ozzu gets anywhere from about 4x to 20x the traffic that site gets. I am not sure its as big as you guys think. I thought the idea of entering their competition sounded good until I saw it cost almost $200 USD with no guarantee of anything.

There are 1000s of award sites out there, just like there are 1000s of directories out there. The majority of them are just out to make some extra $$$ off of submissions.
