Ok, so you have $500 earmarked to be spent on a money making venture on the net. The long term goal is to establish something i.e. a website that will provide reoccuring income and won't require you to spend your whole life updating and editing it. Where do you spend your $500, what do you do with it?

Build a database driven website for gasoline prices that people could self update all day long as to where the cheapest prices are at time of entry.

categorize by location, market the sh*t out of it and collect $$$ on advertisements.

just a thought

unfortunately the following domains are already taken,

http://www.gasprices.com/
http://www.bestgasprices.com/

... but

http://www.allgasprices.com/ is not !!!

and if your going to go international,
this would be the domain name to use.

good luck and when your are sitting pretty,
do try and recall who suggested it.

Post has been moved back to the girlfriend. Sorry guys, I was sure he had meant this thread as a game of sorts. I've talked to the poster and it's all been sorted out. You may continue your comments.

Buy hosting and a domain. Develop a quality website. Spend the rest on renewing your domain and hosting and for some AdSense ads.

i kinda have the belief that a good idea needs next to no money to get it successfull.

You could pump thousands into a project but if people dont want it then it will fail.

personally i would spend no more than £60 getting an idea off the ground.

So really you only need the idea, and of he idea is a good one it will have the abiliity to make you money from the begining.
And they say viral marketing is the best kind of marketing there is.
If you have an idea that people want to tell thier friends about than thats better than tv ads, magazine ads and any links from other websites.

reocurring sales.

as in don't sell a book or dvd but rather something that people need to replenish, like soap, toothpaste and the likes.

ofcourse the above are stupid examples but I think you might get my point.

Theres a word for it, just can't think of it now.

I should also add $500 is not much to start a new project, especially if you want it to become very profitable.

Really depends on what type of project he is starting. You could start a website for less than $10 a month easily.
