The thing is too that human eyes aren't sensitive enough to pick up much color when you look at stuff through a land based telescope. Like the Orion nebula, most of the Hubble pictures you see of it are bright pink and have some greens and blues in them, but through a little 8 inch newtonian telescope on earth it is mainly grey with a little bluish tint in the center. And galaxies and stuff usually look like a little fuzzy oval.
