Oh man, at work they sold the old abandoned building we have our wireless WAN stuff on and now we have until the end of the year to vacate before they take a wrecking ball to it, so we have been working on getting individual internet connections put in at each of our 16 sites across town, but the problem is none of us have ever worked with this type of always-on VPN, only PPTP type of stuff, so we have been looking into new firewalls and stuff. The other night I woke up from a dream and talking about how long our keep alive time should be and how that is going to affect the load balancing between the two DSL circuits on that router (don't know where that came from). I need a vacation.

I think this is why we get paid $140,000 a year. Or whatever you get paid...

Never expect to get more than you ask for, unless it's trouble we're talking about.

Oh, why worry? The last time ive read medical journals, physicians during the later part of 20th century only have few specialization in medicines. Now, you can fill out a roll of tissue paper with the number of specs and sub-specs that the doctors have now. same for us in IT fields. and sure its getting more and more.

I thought it was a bit frustrating because of all this stuff they taught me in college and said I would use it everyday, but then I go out and get a job and don't use all of it or use different stuff. Like I had to take an Access 2003 class, and the teacher kept stressing that everybody uses Access and if we know it well, we will be doing alright. And she made the final for the class be the MOS Access 2003 certification test (passed!). Now in my job, I use an Informix database and a few MySQL databases lots more than Access. It seems like if you are gonna survive in our industry, you really need to be a jack of all trades when you are in the entry level positions, then over time work yourself into an on-demand specialist in one thing or another. Thats when you start making the big bucks.
