Avid remains the industry standard. I work daily on an Avid Symphony. DS is the top of the line and Nitris will be pleasing folks soon. If your asking about XDV, you may want to look at Premiere Pro, Vegas and Final Cut Pro. There are many apps that cost less that are MUCH more powerful than XDV. If your wanting to become an editor as a career, go with XDV as you'll simply have to know the interface. Many post houses that have Avids already find it very useful to offline on as the projects move to highr end seamlessly. It's just limited effects-wise and is DV25 only.

interesting stuff fellas. good info grin.

I've never worked with anything video as of yet, but i'm stretching out
into some 3-d and other stuff, so i'm sure at some point I'll be using it.
