For some reasons, Antivirus maker may create a virus too. So don't worry about which one is the best. Just install the one you think easy to upgrade and update.
Anyway, I use Mcafee and Panda in my system. It seems they are working together very well, like brother and sister ...

Well --- I must say I am happy to see so many "thumbs up" for AVG. :)
That is what I am using now and I like it very much. It's very easy to use and does the job.
I had Norton's before and it screwed up my computer cause it would not allow me to turn off the auto update (live). Was always running in the background and D.L. the same update in over and over and over!
What a bugga a boo. Even had big trouble trying to uninsatll the darn thing! :x
Anyway -- very pleased with AVG and would recommend it heartily! :D

Norton has the profile but I came across AVG by accident and have been using it ever since mainly because there is a free version with automatic updates. It picked up both W32 Blaster and MyDoom before I'd even heard of them! Yes peeps should use common sense with e-mail but it's crazy not to have anti-virus software installed these days.....too many anarchaic freeks about! Oh yea...AVG is at http://www.grisoft.com.

I've never used anti virus software.

I'm with DM on this one, a combination of common sence, & a traffic monitor should be all you need.

Everyone should be doing this even if they have an antivirus scanner.

I've never had an antivirus program on my computer and ive never had a virus on my computer.

i run zone alarm firewall (free from http://www.download.com ) and have also tightened some things up on xp

im smart with my email programs, I dont activate preview panes and I dont open anything i dont know where it comes from or that its clearly marked.

I dont open junk forward mails that people send me. (you know those fun little .exe etc programs sometimes contain viruses)

i have a popup stopped installed (google) which prevents most popups from appearing (some of these are what have the virus's in them which automatically download onto your computer).

Every now and then I run Adaware just to be sure, to be sure.

I'm smart about what programs I allow to run on my computer and I check my firewall regularly for any leaks etc. http://www.grc.com is a good resource for all those gadgets to keep your computer safe as well as a mountain of computer security information to keep you informed.

Im not saying im 100% percent protected from viruses - however in the 10 years+ ive had a computer - I've never had one intrusion or virus.

well I certainly understand that, I am cautious about those things too. But I am very paranoid about viruses, so I scan once a week as well. In the past 5 years I have only had one virus, and it was easily removed.

I actually have the best antivirus ever. I'm sorry to change the way this post was running, but just couldn't think of a better antivirus. (no offence to anyone.)
