Best software to create banners (not advertisement banners)

What is the software that you would recommend to make banners for birthdays, Christmas and other events which you can print and hang on walls?

Print Shop is the one my mom uses, but you could easily acheive the same results in photoshop.

I would suggest photoshop if u run windows, and the Gimp if u use linux.

na, you don't use photoshop or gimp for cards and banners (btw, you can get gimp for windows, it's pretty nice if you're looking for just the right filter)...

it's an OLD program, but I have a copy of Printmaster Gold, and it does a fine job with all the above... I'm not sure about what capabilities print shop has as I've never used it.

Thank You for your answers. I ended up using a program called poster7 cause that's the only one that I can find that has trial version.
