Hi my name is Kevin.
I am 26, happily married and have a 3yr boy.

This is my first computer since my C64. (yes, I hear you laughing.) I bought the parts from a local store and put it together myself. Athlon 1800xp, 512 sdram, 32bit G force video card, 30 Gb Maxtor,OS Win xp, crt 19" real. I am amazed at speed of this thing.

I dont know much about this stuff, but I am having fun and learning as I go, I hope I can add to this site, by sharing my perspective and offbeat humor.

First question? I have one computer and want a firewall between it and my dsl yahoo connection. I would rather have a physical barrier than a software, Or possibly both? Do I buy a router? Cheap is good.

I'd say get a router. I use a Seimens, but I expect many would recommend a Linksys. (I think that's how you spell those brand names.) They aren't outrageseously priced. Probably around $50 or $60 and you may be able to find rebates if you shop around. It will probably cost you $10 to $15 for decent cable.

As far as software I use Zone Alarm and am very satisfied with it.

Bah.. dont waste money on a physical firewall, when you got a pefectly good software one for free.. godamn..

Thanks I will try both. I plan on building a better computer soon. And it will share my dsl connection, so Ill get software today, and a router soon. Thanks for the reply.
