This might sound harsh, but if you can't quit cold turkey it's more than likely not going to last.

There's not many things more stressfull than giving up smoking. If you can make it through that experience there shouldn't be many, if any, thing that could make you start up again after you quit.
Strong with this one, the sudo is.

I have to agree with TPAM.
If you managed to quit smoking, other things would be easier.

I quited smoking cigarettes about 3 years ago and now I feel myself well and healthy. I would like to say that everything depends on the person's will - that's all!

Congrats ATNO!

I gave up two years ago due to a cold and unable to breathe going up hill. It was the right time for me to stop.

I had - had family stop but died from one cancer or another so I was worried about stopping. I had support by phone calls from the NHS line. The first 12 months I was fine and never bothered but then out of the blue I wanted a cig desperately but never gave in.

Its when I am on the machine and things don't go right and I get annoyed then I want one so have a drink of tea or coffeee instead. If anyone says its easy they are liars.

Water was a lifesaver too ATNO.

Good luck!

Chanpix, is called CHAMPIX in Australia.

Quote:
Champix is a non-nicotine tablet specifically designed as a stop-smoking treatment. It works in the brain, helping to reduce the cravings and withdrawal symptoms associated with quitting, while also reducing the pleasure you get if you smoke a cigarette while you're taking the tablet. Champix is available only on prescription so ask your doctor or pharmacist if it's right for you.

I know so many people who have used this successfully. Its quite expensive here though (about $120 or so for 3 months), unless you have a concession card then its $4.40 lol.

Congratulation!
I tried many time to stop smoking. It is very hard for me to stop. When I feel hungry i feel to smoke and when i feel lonely i am urged to smoke. Sometime i quit for one to three months but after sometime i used to start again. It's really hard for me to stop smoking. :onfire:

Well it isn't easy for sure. Not making much progress. But I'm not giving up either. If I could get rid of the stress I have right now, it'd be a whole lot easier.
