I don't believe there is a way to fix a cd once its been damaged. I have heard toothpaste works on scratches. I tried it on my old Phil Collins cd but it still skipped.

Sorry buddy your just going to have to explain what happened and buy him a new one :D

Wash any residue with mild soap and water. Pat dry with a soft cloth. Fine scratches can be removed in a similar fashion to waxing a car. Use another soft cloth to rub in a smal circular fashion. The object is to warm the plastic slightly and smooth down the scratches. Be gentle.

You know, they sell those things for cleaning scratches off glasses lenses too (both glass & plastic lenses)..

Perhaps one of those kits would work for a CD. Might be worth looking into.

I saved an old Rolling Stones CD many moons ago. It was used as a beer bottle coaster was still fixable. Oddly enough, less scratched CDs couldn't be fixed. Its all luck.

I'm guessing the CD collection was over $30 then.

OK. Curiosity has the better of me. How did you ruin so many CDs?
