I remember in 98 I bought a Tool Cd (undertow) at walmart. The band had to change their album art for that store over some such contreversy, so the new art was a bar code. It set off an alarm with some robotic sounding voice telling us to step back for customer service to assist us. That is the first time I had ever heard anything like that and suddenly my world got smaller.

Just so you know the bar code art would not set off any magnetic detection device. At most you would need a big laser to set it off, then it'd need a clear view, and ANYTHING with a barcode and a clear view of the laser would go off.
