To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal;

a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

What profit hath he that worketh in that wherin he laboureth? I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it..........

Who told you that King James wrote Ecclesiastes? I think their history is a bit skewed.

What is this all about? What are we discussing about this Old Testament Bible verse?

Maybe you're thinking of the King James version of the Bible that the passage you copied comes from.

Either way, beautiful words eh :D

Yeah, actually it has another page long..I was lazy to copy it.

It confuses me, I knew it was something related to King James but unsure who exactly wrote that piece, supposed to find out, but lately have been busy..

I Love this, that is an English book, as opposed to what many are thinking "a Bible"..a collection from a pair work, mother and son team, gathering the most beautiful english words ever written in history...

Thanks

Dear Musik,

The title of the book is called:

The English Reader, What Every Literate Person Needs to Know,

selected and introduced by Michael Ravitch & Diane Ravitch ( Oxford )

Hmm, yeah it's a good dose for me to perk up when i'm down, sometimes...

Here's another one for you:

Quote:

When in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes
I all alone beweep my outcast state,
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries,
And look upon myself, and curse my fate,

Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featur'd like him, like him with friends possess'd,
Desiring this man's art, and that man's scope,
With what I most enjoy contented least;

Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;

For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings.

-William Shakespeare
