Think about when you go to the restroom at a resturaunt, or another place of business, there's usually that sign which reads,
Quote:
Employees must wash hands before returning to work.
Which, in some places it's kinda scarry to think about why they actually have to put up a sign for that, but that's beside the point.

Now, with all of the Waterless Hand Sanitizers on the market today, along with the increasing number of computer & terminal related positions, do you think it would be good practice to require that employees use one of thoose sanitizers before and/or after using the company computers/terminals ?

What actions should be taken when employees repeatedly forget to sanitize their hands ?

What options could be available for thoose with skin that is sensitive to the active ingredient(s) in waterless sanitizer ?
Why yes, yes I am.

That is a good point Joe. I always carry a bottle of that sanitizer with me, its the best invention ever!

As for people who do not wash their hands before they go back to work, I think there should indeed be a bottle of that stuff on every desk. Getting into the habit of cleaning your hands in one way or another, needs to be put in someones face to remind them to do it.

As for sensitive skin, I am pretty sure they would sell some kind sensitive skin sanitizer.

I usually keep a Purell bottle at work as well because I move around to many people's workstations, and using hand sanitizer is just an extra measure to try not to get sick as often.

I think it's a good idea.

I don't know how you would monitor this though.

In a perfect world yes of course!

You've never been washing your hands in a public restroom & noticed someone you have to deal with doesn't wash their hands, or just kinda half-ass rinses them off, & made a mental note not to shake their hand ? :scratchhead:

Unless the workplace is a complete madhouse, there's going to be people that notice when someone rarely uses the sanitizer.
Hopefully the policy never needs a disciplinary strategy.
Ideally, awareness created by the policy would get the people who notice to remind the others to use the sanitizer, I'm sure there'd be a few more "stick out your hands" people if they knew it wouldn't be looked upon as harassment too.

Yes of course I notice (and gossip about it to others too!) :D

I think companies would rather their employees spend time working rather than snooping around and/or confronting colleagues regarding their sanitization habits (or lack thereof)? There's no way this would happen in corporate America, people would probably file harassment claims against co-workers for badgering like this. Most would turn into one persons word against the other, unless people are suggesting companies have sanitization police consisting of 2 or more people who roam the office trackign down offenders. It would only damage morale anyway if people started on each other.

How do you deal with people who bring their PDA's, cell phones, etc into the bathroom and use them while they go? OK they sanitize their hands but the second they get back on their portable they are back to square one.

The best thing one can do is look after yourself, take notes of others habits as you say and avoid them like the plague!

Another solution could be that all employees have personal keyboards or use rubber gloves.
I bring my own board to school, mostly due to the boards there suck ass.
It takes less than a minute to hook one up(unless you are a fat ass and can't bend over) and most times you don't have to reboot, if you do it's no big deal.
I would think that at a place of work you wouldn't use multiple workstations; but what do I know, I haven't worked in about ten months. The joys of being a fulltime student.
What about *plum*? .
