I think we all saw this one coming, but I found the explanation interesting. With the FCC growing ever-more-interested, Google knew it could poke the lion, and I guess now Eric's drawing the dividing line.

Why don't apple and google just make an official partnership the same way micro$oft and yahoo just did? But conversely though, it seems like having an "Appoogle" or "Goople" might not work since apple and google are competitors in the mobile phone realm. And that said, why was a google guy on the board of apple? </random_thoughts>

He's been there for quite some time. Google's just now coming about as a real mobile player and founding it's own ideas of open-source-centric code, so it's relatively new conflict of interest, I think.
I'd love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.
