It could a money maker if you can sell the advertising space. Will it be world wide or only in a particular country? Someone here just posted their world wide dating site. It was pretty good. I think you have a good chance.

Does the ozzu server have enough hard drive space to hold camper johns's upcoming post(s) for this thread?

Don2007 Thanks for your encouragement.
Yes im hoping to make it world wide, so that any escort, in any country can use my site to promote themselves.

Its a big project for me, ive never set up a fully functional site before let alone my own business.

I do intend on charging the escorts a fee each month for having their own profile, however im thinking initial free registration (allowing only 1 photo, and only one form of contact info) will bring people to the site??

what do u reckon? :)

Why would escorts want to pay for a profile, when they can pimp themselves out on MySpace or Facebook for free and already have a huge audience ?

Escorts don't have pockets in their outfits, the people who pay for them do.

i was dating a profesional high class escort once. she earned anywhere between £300-£1000 for an hours work.

She paid around £50 a month on various popular sites to get more coverage. So £50 was not much to her for 1 month of advertising. Although she did use free directorys aswell.

Also, banner advertising might be another way of bringing in a monthly income, if the site were to gain a lot of traffic and popularity.

After. Alot of escorts probably wouldnt want the whole world to know theyre escorts i reckon. Her family and friends didnt know. Alot of women on escort sites have their faces blurred out for privacy.

While facebook would be an additional medium for me to promote the site, i dont think its benefical to those escorts who are very private and have days jobs.

Well you can hardly just setup a site with a big flashing "Escorts here!" sign out front. :scratchhead:

What about starting it out as a dating site to get the initial audience going, then weaving the escort service in quietly once the place is established ?

Come to think of it, camperjohn has been fairly quiet lately. I have half a mind to assume he has his hand in this somehow already. lol

To answer you question about the fees, I would charge the monthly fee but no extra initial fee. Let them buy 3 month, 6 month or yearly blocks.

Good idea. Ive seen similiar packages like that on alot of dating sites.

How about this... not charging the first 50 escorts, or not charging any of them until the site brings a heap load of traffic, for which i can introduce charges per month.

the alternative may be to say its free, but they must upgrade if they require more than 1 photo & to publish their web address or contact info??

The most I would do there is an introductory offer of 1 extra month per package if they contract by _________ Pick a date.

Personally i would not try charging anything, you need to be getting a lot of traffic before pay-for advertising becomes a viable source of income and the market is flooded. You are trying to compete with the likes of "punterlink" and that will never happen. They charge around £30,000 for a frontpage banner ad.

I have written a postcode driven engine with a similar adult theme in mind. Enables you to enter your location and it returns 'X' records nearest to you, also available as a white-labelled RSS feed. The only reason I have not pursued the idea is because google/yahoo will chop-off-my-wotsits if they found out. There are alternative methods of geocoding information on-the-fly but i have not pursued them. Adult websites are not my thing (honest  )

Good luck.

Cheers, Prime.

GOD I just KNEW I should login today to see what new topics there are.

Top of my head since I am at my regular job (yes, I have a job now) and can't type too much:

1) You can't advertise it to be a site where prostitues hook up with johns. That's illegal.

2) You CAN advertise that it is just an escort service and nothing more.

3) That said, you should brand your site as "Escorts and nothing else" or something like that.

4) Lie in #3. "Escorts and nothing else" really means "Escorts and EVERYTHING ELSE". Lieing in business is key to success - just look at all the top corps out there and try to talk yourself into being honest and poor.

5) Get a standard social networking script and get started.

I think the key is in branding your site to be open and honest so you can attract attention, then do the dirty work behind the scenes. You can't scream "Prositutes here", but you can scream "Nice girls willing to pretend to be your date for a high-end social event", then behind the scenes "yeah and we f*ck too for an extra $10"

That's camperjohns take on it. You have to be able to really advertise above board, then turn a blind eye to what goes under the table.

These are they same SOB corporations that are begging and pleading for federal money because their companies are going under and they can't afford their armani suits and Rolls Royce cars any more. Food for thought.

BINGO. F*ck things up and you get 700 BILLION dollars. Overspend at GM and Ford and the government will bail you out.

I am too honest. I say things like they are and never try to rip people off. I think this is why I am still stuck on the bottom rung. I see what others do, and I just don't have the heart to be a scammer. But I am trying harder and harder each day to step up to the plate and fit in with the rest of the world.

Ha ha ha don't fight your inner goodness, camper :D there's too little of it going around as it is..... plus don't you just love that warm fuzzy feeling one gets from knowing he's treating people right? ;)

I don't see running an escort site with additional sub-legal perks exactly in the same class of devilry as the nasty corporations wasting billions and still taking home mindboggling bonuses. It is, after all, the oldest profession - to be honest I still don't understand why it's illegal to begin with.... legalizing and regulating it (taxes, health coverage etc) would be beneficial for all involved......

this said, I'd say camper's advice is technically sound. I fully endorse it.

If I remember right, Las Vegas has more well maintained public parks and schools per square mile than anywhere else in America.
