I went from a five or six hundred mhz Win2k system to a 1.5G WinXP system. That was a nice jump too. :D

I also made a big jump recently ... I had a AMD Athlon 2800+ with 1GB memory DDR400 and an ATI Radeon 9550 GPU ...

I now have an Intel Core2QuadQ6600@2.4GHz with 4GB of RAM DDR2-800 and an GeForce 8800Fatal1ty edition ... it's always fun upgrading ...

R_T, how's that quad running? I have a socket 775 motherboard with a Core2 Duo @ 2.6Ghz (overclocked to 3.5Ghz) and I'm wondering if the quad core would show any real gains over it if I upgraded.

I guess my lack of money for the time being has made the decision for me :(

I absolutely love the quad ... especially for things like photoshop ... it opens up just as quick as I can double click the icon ... but what I'd really like is the Q9550 ... that thing should be really potent ... It's just a bit expensive for just a processor ...

here is a list of all the quads ... as you can see I have the one second from the bottom ...

oh yeah, one thing I forgot to add, I got the Samsung 22" wide screen... that makes everything worthwhile ... it's got 3000:1 contrast ratio and a 2ms response time ... If I had to choose between that and the processor I would choose the screen ... It kicks ass ...
