For everyone who has been waiting for the official release:
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/en-US/worldrecord/firefox3

The server is overloaded, obviously, but I did manage to find this mirror on reddit:

The Mozilla website is performing much better. I guess it took them some time to combat the surge of downloaders.

Check out:

It has all kinds of little tips and tricks to the new browser. I particularly like the one to set gmail to the default mailto: client. Fun fun fun!

Too bad I wasn't here earlier to see the mirror link. I started my download from mozilla.org about 2 hours ago and it's still on 45%, but I'm letting it continue... I'm not in a hurry, I already tried the beta.

And did you guys check out the world record thingy? Sounds cool... 4.5 million downloads so far. And you can even get yourself a certificate for being part of the community: http://www.spreadfirefox.com/en-US/worl ... icate_form :D

I just saw on another forum that I'm part of (gaming forum), that by default, large images in phpBB2 footers are blocked to make it quicker ... that is really really cool ... because I don't want to see those image footers ... they bother me ...

And I just got my certificate.

I just downloaded this, what are some new features you guys like? I Am not that into how it has the drop down of your bookmarks similar to what you're typing. I need to figure out how to turn that off

What George? The topic is Firefox 3.

ContentKing, if you check out the link that kc0tma provided, there are instructions on how to restore the original address bar functionality.

I know spork, I mean Opera Vs Firefox, which 1 do you think is nicer?

I have this issue lately, as to which one to use as default browser...

Ah I see. I keep Opera around for web development but I still prefer Firefox for my everyday browsing.

I have two-sided thoughts about the new "smart" address bar: it helps at times when you remember the title of a page you visited, but not its URL. But that's the problem too: when you actually type in part of a URL, it shows up title results first. I think it should be the other way round.

Edit: My first post with Firefox 3. :D
