I came across the country and western singer Toby Keith today and despite never really getting into country music i've fallen in love with the humour in the videos and his lyrics.

I'd heard of other country and western singers that performed comedy songs from my USA based bro and always meant to listen to more.

Check out some of these vids...

Toby Keith - I wanna talk about me
Toby Keith - As good as i once was
Toby Keith - A little too late - the end is funny

Anyone recommend any other funny music and different genres?

to me the king of funny music is Tom Lehrer (Poisoning Pigeons in the Park is one of my favourite balads :D )

also Kenny Chesney's 'She Thinks my Tractor's Sexy' was always quite hilarious to me but I don't think he meant it as a joke really....

Check out "BloodHound Gang" or "Tenacious D". Both very funny. "Flight of the Conchords" is good too.

John Prine. It's old, but I've always liked it.

Quote:
Please don't bury me
Down in that cold cold ground
No, I'd rather have 'em cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size
Give my stomach to Milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just get 'em out of here
Venus de Milo can have my arms
Look out! I've got your nose
Sell my heart to the junkman
And give my love to Rose

weird al yankovic is also amazingly cool. my favourite of all times is albuquerque, (which lasts for about 14 minutes but is seriously funny at times) but there's lots of nice ones to choose from... 'living in the fridge' (reworked version of aerosmith's 'living on the edge'), Constipated (Avril Lavigne's 'complicated', 'Fat' (Michael Jackson's 'bad'), 'Like a Surgeon' (Madonna's 'like a virgin') etc......... 'the saga begins' is also nice - it's the plot of star wars set to the tune of Don McLean's 'American Pie'

Adam Sandler's done some good stuff.

And while I was looking for some of it I came across something I don't remember seeing at Google before. :scratchhead:

Yeah, i'm a big fan of the Tenacious D and generally a huge fan of Jack Black and his movies. His dedication to rock music is quite inspirational.
