Ever since Google gave users the option to always use HTTPS with Gmail, Gmail notifier no longer works on Windows (my Mac version still does, curiously). This was a big bummer for me because I've come to rely on it.

Now, Google has a fix for it here:

But this really confounds me. For a giant software company like Google, how hard can it possibly be to simply release an updated version of Gmail Notifier with the option to turn on/off HTTPS? People have already found ways to hack the application and add the fix themselves with a simple hex editor. But most non-tech-savy users aren't going to bother with that and many people are weary about touching their registry, even if it just involves a quick registry patch.

Google's "quick fix" just seems really lazy in my opinion.

I just use plain text.

It's kinda fun setting people up to think they're getting the drop on you. :D
Strong with this one, the sudo is.
