At the Drive-In and The Mars Volta

ATDI kick ass! I's kinda sad to know they have broke up. I do prefer Sparta compared to Mars Volta as i'm not so much into electonic/prog. funk music. and Sparta do preserve some of the ATDI tunes.

Here are some of my fav. bands:

Fingerprint (Emocore band from France)
Shelter (Krishna core band)
Earth Crisis (HC)
Downset (Rapcore LA band)
Rage against the machine
Snapcase
Poison the Well
Warzone (Old School HC)

Just wondering, how do you classify an indie band?

hey im new to this site, this is my 1st post. i snowboard and like to listen to indie/electronica, i guess u could call it. its hard to explain.... soft "floating" sounding mellow, but upbeat with a techno-ish beat. if you know what ttype of music this is called please tell me, cuz iv just been calling it electronica.

i have a brief list of what i listen to, but i am searching for more bands like this.

frou frou
grandaddy
ladytron
le tigre
shiney toy guns
metric
modest mouse
postal service
snow patrol
the sounds
tears for fears
teddybears sthlm
telepopmusik
tv eyes
yeah yeah yeahs
depesce mode
9voltpenpal
a-ha
action action
alice in videoland
american analog set
bloc party
buggles
codeseven
death cab
elkland
the faint
felix da housecat

please help me out and post up more bands like these (electronica/indie)

My most recent band is the libertines and their offshoots (BabyShambles & Dirty Pretty Things - both UK) but tons of heart.

In America, I keep coming back to Hunting Bigfoot lately. The last poster mentioned grandaddy and their song "Driving Out" sounds exactly like them, too much like them actually.

But is a weird album with a lot of different moods that get culminated in this freak show song "3fn wives" about an outlaw desparado searching vengance on his ex-wives which is where the cd gets out out there. i stumbled across it through a friend cause they post all their songs for free download on huntingbigfoot.com, but since they live in new york have become my local band curiousity. Paul Rowan and his sidekick johnny rofle make for volatile live shows and if they do the song cape cod potato chips, has a weird cult following vibe to it...just very unique and original, maybe not great, but is why i'm continually intrigued.
